Broadmead Farms consists of 500 acres primarily of orchard grass in the fertile Willamette Valley in Oregon. We were initialy attracted to Dorpers and White Dorpers since they shed and breed throughout the year. We thought these traits would do well in the Willamette valley with its large grass acerage.
Together with Jim Klingbeil, in 1998 we imported 6 embryos from South Africa. This was the beginning of the Riverwood Flock. Concurrently, Broadmead Farms started a purebred flock in Oregon which now consists of 200 purebred Dorper ewes and 150 White Dorper Ewes.
For the past 10 years we have been competitive in various shows and sales throughout the United States. We are especially proud of the Best Consignment Awards for 5 out of the last 6 years in Sedelia Missouri.
